Minis U8, U9, U10
Minis – start of the league games competition against other clubs. All Minis teams will play an equal number of home and away games. Our home field is Kensington Park. The location of the away games are determined by the oppositions home field. Currently all the away games will take place in the Vancouver area. Game times at this level are on Saturday mornings with start times ranging from 9:00 am -12:00 pm. Specific game schedules are released by the league once the season begins and those schedules are forwarded by the club to the team officials who in turn email to the parents. Please note the club does not create the schedules and only forwards the schedules from the league.
Teams are as successful as the parents are involved. You must commit to driving your child to one practice and one game per week. As well, parents are encouraged to provide assistance to the coaching staff or volunteer to become a coach or manager themselves. KLM will pay for the cost of a coaching clinic for any interested parent.
Players must provide their own shin guards and cleats. KLM will supply a jersey, black shorts and socks for each registrant. Players should only wear their “kit” at games. Please do not wear the jersey, socks or shorts to practice.
U8 Teams (born 2011)
At this age group, kids play on a small field with only four players on the pitch at one time. By playing four-aside, each player has more contact with the ball. Play is primarily recreational with an emphasis on fun and skill development. While we do our best to keep friends together, teams need to be balanced. We try to keep the maximum players at EIGHT per team so each player gets a good amount of field time.
Teams have one practice during the week usually at David Livingstone Elementary (East 23rd and Prince Edward). Games take place every Saturday. Our home games are played at the grass fields at Kensington Park (Knight at 33rd. Ave.). If the grass fields are not playable, the games move to the gravel fields at Sir Richard McBride Elementary School. Players will be required to travel to other fields in Vancouver to play their “away” games against other clubs.
U9 and U10 Teams (born 2010 and 2009 respectively)
At these age groups, kids continue on a modified field, but now with six players on the pitch at one time. Most teams have one practice during the week, again, usually at Livingstone Elementary (East 23rd and Prince Edward). Games continue to be on Saturdays, but the location is changed to bigger fields. Our home games are played at the grass fields at Kensington Park (Knight at 33rd. Ave.). If the grass fields are not playable, the games move to the gravel fields at Mt Pleasant Elementary. The kids will be continue to travel to other parks in Vancouver to play their “away” games.
The club offers additional year round development training programs for players from U8-U13. Players in these programs are trained in a high level training environment by our KLM professional coaching staff. These programs are offered separately from our normal Fall/Winter League registration and referred to as our ACADEMY PROGRAMS.
Find out more about our academy programs by clicking a corresponding main menu item above.
Outdoor practices will run from September to October.

The Vancouver Parks Board reserves the right to close Kensington Park Fields in the event of heavy rain that results in the saturation of the field or the fields having standing water or large muddy areas. In addition if the fields are frozen, have snow or heavy frost on them, the Vancouver Parks Board at their discretion may close the fields until such time the surface conditions have thawed and drained. The Parks Board notifies the local soccer clubs of field closures on Friday afternoons and in turn the club will notify all Minis families by 7pm on Friday. If the Park board determines that Kensington is not playable, then the club has an alternate gravel field located just a few blocks away at McBride Elementary School. The email that is sent to families notifying them of field closures will indicate if all the home games on that specific date will be moved to the alternate field or if the alternate field is closed as well. We will also be updating this information on the KLM Facebook and Twitter Social Media platforms. In regards to possible field closures for away games it is the responsibility of the opposition to inform your team officials of their field status. In turn it is the responsibility of the team officials to notify the families. The club will not provide any updates for away games.
